Faith & Grace | A Little Katie, A Lot of Grace
Can I tell you something?
I am really, really good at being hard on myself.
I can give someone else grace without thinking twice. I can remind them that they’re doing their best, that tomorrow is another day, and that they don’t have to have everything figured out.
But when it comes to myself?
Oh goodness. Apparently, I have an entirely different set of rules. 😂
I have this habit of feeling like I should be doing more. Being more. Getting more things right.
And when life gets overwhelming, it’s so easy to start thinking about everything I haven’t done instead of recognizing everything I have.
I’m learning, though.
And I say learning because I certainly haven’t mastered this one yet.
One of the Scriptures I keep coming back to is Lamentations 3:22–23:
“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
His mercies are new every morning.
Every. Single. Morning.
Not just on the mornings when I wake up feeling motivated and ready to conquer the world. Not just when I’ve been patient, productive, organized, and managed to check everything off my to-do list.
Even after the difficult days.
Even after the moments I wish I’d handled differently.
Even when I feel like I’ve fallen short.
I don’t know about you, but I need that reminder.
Because some days, the best I can do really is just the best I can do.
And when I start being too hard on myself, I try to remember something:
I am genuinely doing my best, and God has the rest.
That doesn’t mean I stop trying to grow or become better. It just means I don’t have to carry everything as though it all depends on me.
I can acknowledge where I struggled, ask God for help, and trust that His grace is sufficient for the things I can’t fix on my own.
And if today wasn’t what I hoped it would be?
Well, tomorrow morning comes with brand-new mercies.
Thank goodness for that. ♡
I think that’s something I want this little corner of the internet to be about. Not pretending life is always beautiful and put together, but learning to recognize God’s goodness in the middle of the messiness, too.
So if you’re having one of those days, I hope you’ll give yourself a little grace.
I’m going to try to do the same.
And tomorrow, we’ll try again.

With love and a little grace,
Katie ♡
