❧ When God Gave Me a Rainbow ♡ ❧
Life has been hard lately.
Really, really hard.
Nothing in my life looks the way I pictured it ten years ago. Not even close.
But I’ve grown. Like, a lot.
And even through everything that’s happened, I can see God’s hand in it all.
A while back, when I was struggling with so many changes happening in my life all at once, I was driving home alone on a rainy day in June.
I was tired, distraught, and completely falling apart.
And I cried out to God.
“Please, Lord. I know I can’t know the future. I know You can’t tell me exactly where all of this is leading or what the answers are. But please, just let me know You’re here. Let me know You’re with me through all of this.
Show me a rainbow. Just let me see one so I can know You’re with me.”
When I finished praying, I turned my head to the left.
And there, through a break in the trees, was one of the largest rainbows I have ever seen.
Right there.
Right next to me.
As close as it could possibly be, and HUGE.
I broke down crying.
I just kept thanking the Lord because, in that moment, I felt so completely seen. I felt heard.
And I knew He was near.
Near to my broken heart.
Psalm 34:17 says:
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
— Psalm 34:17 (NIV)
Yes. He does.
And here’s the thing.
I’m still FULLY in the middle of the trials and troubles right now.
Life hasn’t suddenly become easy. There are still things I don’t understand, things I’m worried about, and things I wish were different.
But I know that my God, my Savior, my Comforter, my Refuge, is here with me.
Holding me. Leading me. Walking with me through all of it.
Another verse from Psalm 34 that has been on my heart today is verse 8:
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
— Psalm 34:8 (NIV)
He really is good.
And when I start to feel afraid, when the worries begin creeping back in, I remind myself:
Katie, God gave you a rainbow. Trust Him. He’s right here with you through it all.
I don’t know what tomorrow holds. I don’t know exactly where all these changes are leading.
But I know I don’t have to walk through them alone.
And maybe someone reading this today needs that reminder, too.
God sees you. He hears your prayers. And even when life is nothing like you thought it would be, He is still near.
❧ A Prayer for Today ❧
Dear Lord,
Please form me into a person who gives thanks at all times.
No matter what I am experiencing or feeling, help me proclaim Your greatness and rejoice over who You are.
Remind me that I can be thankful even in times of hardship or weariness because You are helping and strengthening me.
Thank You, Lord, for Your goodness, faithfulness, and greatness.
You are worthy of praise!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
With love,
Katie
