❧ Three Bibles, Two Boys & One Very Big Little Project ♡ ❧

Pink, black, and green Scripture journals beside a brown lion-embossed Bible on a pink blanket with lace, blossoms and a candle.

So, I’ve decided to start a little project. And by little, I mean something that might take me the rest of my life. 😂

I’m going to handwrite the Bible. Three copies, actually. One for me, and one for each of my two boys.

Yes, I know how many pages are in the Bible. Well, sort of. I probably haven’t fully wrapped my head around how much writing I’ve just signed myself up for. But the more I think about it, the more I love the idea.

❧ Why Would I Do This? ❧

I’ve been wanting to spend more time in God’s Word, but I know myself. If I turn it into another big goal with a deadline and a checklist, I’ll get overwhelmed before I really get going.

So instead, I’m going to sit down for about ten minutes a day, open my little ESV Bible, and write. Starting in Genesis, then continuing one passage at a time.

There’s something different about slowing down enough to write out every word. I can’t skim ahead or hurry through a chapter just to say I’ve finished it. I have to actually sit with the words.

And I think that’s something I need.

❧ One for Me, and One for Each of My Boys ❧

I have a pink journal for my own copy, a green one for Toby, and a black one for Ty. Of course, I know three journals won’t necessarily hold three entire Bibles. This is where we’re starting. Apparently I’ve also started a lifelong stationery collection. 😂

My copy is for my own time with the Lord. For learning, for growing, for the mornings when I need His Word more than I need another cup of coffee.

But the boys’ copies? Those have a different little place in my heart.

I want to write Scripture for Ty and Toby with the hope that someday they’ll have these pages in their hands and recognize their mom’s handwriting. I want to tuck prayers in along the way, too—different prayers for each of them, because they’re different people, and I love them each for who they are.

Maybe one day they’ll open to a verse that meant something to me during a difficult season. Maybe they’ll find a prayer I wrote when they were young and realize that I was praying for the men they would someday become.

I don’t know when they’ll read those pages. I don’t even know how long it will take me to write them. But I love thinking about what those words might mean to them later.

❧ No Deadline, No Perfect Pages ❧

I am not making myself a schedule to finish three chapters a day. I don’t want this to become something I dread or feel guilty about if life gets busy.

Some mornings I’ll probably have ten quiet minutes. Other mornings, maybe I’ll only manage a few verses. And knowing me, there might be a day when I miss it completely. That’s okay.

I want this to be a time of being with God, not another thing I have to be good at.

There will probably be crooked lines, messy handwriting, and the occasional word I have to cross out. These aren’t going to be perfect, beautiful, professionally lettered Bibles. They’ll be written by me, in my very normal handwriting, in the middle of a very normal, sometimes messy life.

And somehow, I think that makes them even more special.

❧ A Little Legacy of Faith ❧

I can’t promise that I’ll finish quickly. I can’t promise that I have all the answers, either. I’m still learning and praying and trying to trust God through my own hard days.

But I can give my boys something honest: a record of their mom showing up, little by little, to spend time in God’s Word. And prayers that remind them they have always been loved.

Maybe that’s what this project is really about. Not how much I can write, or how fast I can get through the Bible, but how those small moments of faith can add up over a lifetime.

For now, it’s just me, my little ESV Bible, a pen, and the first few pages of something that I hope will be a gift for years to come.

One verse at a time. One prayer at a time. And a whole lot of grace in between. ♡

With love (and probably ink on my fingers),
Katie ♡
