❧ Coffee, Grace & Starting Again ♡ ❧
Good morning, friends! ❤️
I hope you’re having a lovely Sunday morning. Hopefully you’ve got a warm cup of coffee nearby, maybe a cozy blanket, and at least a few minutes of peace before the day gets going.
I’m sitting here with my coffee this morning, thinking about how funny life can be.
One day you’re feeling like you’ve got everything figured out, and the next you’re wondering if crawling back into bed and pulling the covers over your head might actually be a reasonable life plan. 😂
I’ve had a few of those days lately.
You know those days when you’re trying your best, doing all the things you’re supposed to do, and somehow it still feels like you’re not getting anywhere?
Yeah. Those days.
And I think sometimes I make those days harder on myself because I start feeling like I should have everything figured out by now.
But this morning, I was reminded of something beautiful in Lamentations:
It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
— Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)
They are new every morning.
Not just on the mornings when we’ve got our lives together. Not just when the bills are paid, the house is clean, the laundry is folded, and our plans are working out exactly the way we hoped.
Every morning.
Even the messy ones.
Even the mornings after we’ve spent the previous day worrying about things we can’t quite figure out.
God doesn’t ask us to arrive at Sunday morning with a perfectly organized life and a five-year plan. Thank goodness, because I certainly wouldn’t qualify. 😂
Another verse that comes to mind is Matthew 6:34:
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
— Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
Jesus reminds us not to carry tomorrow’s troubles before tomorrow even gets here.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not particularly talented at this. I’m very good at thinking about tomorrow. And next week. And six months from now. Sometimes all before I’ve even finished my coffee.
But I’m learning.
I’m learning that trusting God doesn’t mean pretending everything is wonderful when it isn’t.
Sometimes it means admitting that things are hard, praying about them, doing what I can today, and trusting Him with the things I can’t control.
And maybe that’s enough for this Sunday morning.
I don’t need to solve every problem today. I don’t need to accomplish something extraordinary. I don’t even need to have a particularly productive Sunday.
I can just be thankful that God has given me another day, another opportunity, and another fresh helping of His mercy.
So if you’ve had a hard week, or you’re carrying something heavy into this Sunday, I hope you’ll remember that too.
Yesterday doesn’t get to decide everything about today.
His mercies are new this morning. And that is a beautiful place to begin.
❧ A Little Sunday Prayer ❧
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of another morning and for Your mercy that never runs out. You know the worries we’re carrying, the things we’re hoping for, and the struggles we don’t always share with others.
Help us to trust You with what we cannot control. Give us wisdom for the things we can do today, patience for the things that take time, and peace in knowing that You are with us through all of it.
Remind us that we don’t have to have everything figured out to rest in Your goodness.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Wishing you a peaceful Sunday, a good cup of coffee, and a little reminder that tomorrow’s worries can wait. ❤️
With love,
Katie
