❧ Florals, Pearls & Navy ♡ ❧

Romantic vintage flat lay for Florals, Pearls & Navy featuring navy Mary Jane heels, blush handbag, real pearls, floral pleated skirt, lace, flowers, antique books, and a butterfly accessory.

Some outfits start with a plan.

This one started with a skirt. 😂

I wanted something pretty and feminine for work today without feeling too dressed up, and this little floral pleated skirt was exactly the mood. It has tiny flowers scattered over blue-and-white stripes, so there’s plenty going on without it feeling loud.

I kept everything else fairly simple: a navy top, navy blazer, and navy Mary Jane heels.

And then, naturally, I added pearls.

❧ The Little Details ❧

The pearls are actually my favorite part of today’s outfit, but not just because of how they look.

The long pearl necklace belonged to my grandma and was passed down to me. They’re real pearls, and wearing them feels completely different from simply choosing a necklace because it matches an outfit.

I love that something she once owned and wore gets to have a life with me now.

And honestly, isn’t that one of the loveliest things about personal style? Sometimes the things we wear aren’t special because they’re trendy or expensive or perfectly matched. They’re special because they belonged to someone we loved first.

I paired Grandma’s pearls with pearl-drop earrings and my sparkly butterfly hair clip, so there are little touches of pearl throughout the outfit. Against the navy, they stand out beautifully, and somehow they make the floral skirt feel even more old-fashioned and romantic.

From the front, the outfit is very sensible: navy blazer, pearls, pleated skirt, office appropriate, responsible adult.

✨ Rhinestone butterfly. ✨

There she is. 😂

❧ A Little Old-Fashioned, a Little Everyday ❧

I carried my pink purse today, too, which pulls out some of those tiny pink flowers in the skirt and keeps all the navy from feeling too serious.

There’s something about a pleated floral skirt, pearls, and Mary Janes that feels wonderfully old-fashioned to me. Not costume-y or like I’m trying to recreate a particular decade—just those little classic details that have managed to stay pretty no matter how many years go by.

And that’s probably my favorite kind of outfit: something I can actually wear through a completely normal workday, but that still feels a little romantic.

So yes, today’s outfit started with a floral skirt.

But Grandma’s pearls are what made it feel special. 🤍

Today’s outfit: navy blazer and top, floral pleated midi skirt, navy Mary Jane heels, Grandma’s real pearl necklace, pearl-drop earrings, rhinestone butterfly hair clip, and my pink purse.

Do you have a piece of jewelry or clothing that was passed down to you? I’d love to hear the story behind it.
