Some mornings I put together an outfit and think, Oh, this is cute.
Other mornings I apparently decide that a perfectly innocent sweater and leggings need giant bows, flowers, tassels, and gold jewelry. 😂
Today was the second kind of morning.
At its core, this is actually one of the simplest outfits ever: a camel cable-knit sweater and black leggings. Comfortable. Easy. Nothing particularly exciting.
But we all know I wasn’t going to leave it there.
❧ Starting With the Sweater ❧
I really love this sweater.
The warm camel color already feels very autumn to me, but it’s the cable-knit texture that makes it. There’s something so cozy and slightly old-fashioned about a good cable knit—and because there’s already so much texture in the sweater, it doesn’t need much help to feel interesting.
I added a cognac belt at the waist with a double gold-ring buckle, partly to give the oversized sweater a little more shape and partly because apparently I cannot resist defining my waist. 😂
The black leggings keep everything else simple and comfortable, especially for a normal workday.
And then came the accessories.
Which is where “simple” ended.
❧ A Little Gold… Okay, Maybe a Lot ❧
I went with these long gold tassel earrings today, and once those were on, the rest of the gold details basically chose themselves.
The belt already has its double gold-ring buckle, and then I added my chunky gold LIZAS bracelet—which actually has a little story of its own.
My uncle gave me this bracelet from Austria! 🤎
I hadn’t really thought much about the brand before, so naturally I ended up looking at that tiny little LIZAS charm and wondering where it came from. Turns out LIZAS is a European jewelry brand, which suddenly made perfect sense.
And now I love that it’s not just a pretty gold bracelet that happens to work perfectly with today’s outfit. It’s something my uncle gave me from Austria.
Apparently this is becoming a theme around here: the best accessories come with stories. 😂
The warm gold looks so pretty against the camel sweater, and I love how the bracelet, tassel earrings, and belt buckle all pick up the same tone without actually matching.
I skipped a necklace completely. Between the cable knit and those earrings, I think my neck had enough going on. 😂

❧ And Then There Were the Shoes ❧
These shoes might be my favorite part.
They’re camel Mary Jane-style heels with these big dimensional flowers sitting right at the ankle.
Are they necessary?
Absolutely not.
Do the flowers make me ridiculously happy?
Absolutely yes.
From a distance, the outfit is basically a camel sweater, black leggings, and heels.
Then you look closer and—flowers.
Which feels very on-brand for me.
❧ The Bow Deserves Its Own Paragraph ❧
And finally…
The bow.
I pulled my hair partly back and added this enormous soft cream bow, with the tails falling down through my hair.
There is no pretending this is a subtle bow.
She’s large.
She’s romantic.
She’s living her best life back there. 😂
And I love the way the cream softens all the camel, black, and gold. It gives the whole outfit that slightly romantic, old-fashioned feeling I always seem to be chasing without making the outfit feel like a costume.
That’s probably what I like most about today’s look.
Underneath all the details, it’s still just a sweater and leggings—the kind of outfit I could have thrown on without thinking twice.
But a belt, some gold jewelry, flower-covered shoes, and one gloriously unnecessary bow turned it into something that feels completely like me.
And I think that’s becoming one of my favorite things about getting dressed:
The basics don’t have to be boring. Sometimes they just need a really good bow. 🤎
Today’s outfit: camel cable-knit sweater, black leggings, cognac double-ring belt, camel floral Mary Jane heels, gold tassel earrings, chunky gold LIZAS bracelet from my uncle in Austria, and an oversized cream hair bow.
Are you a “keep the basics simple” person, or are you also incapable of leaving well enough alone once accessories get involved? 😂
