❧ Burgundy, Bows & a Little Gold ♡ ❧

Some mornings I apparently decide that picking one shade of burgundy is simply not enough.

Today was one of those mornings. 😂

I went almost completely monochrome with a burgundy ribbed V-neck sweater and my long tiered burgundy skirt, and I actually really love how the two pieces look together. They aren’t a perfectly identical shade or texture, which I think keeps the whole thing from looking too matchy-matchy.

It’s comfortable, it moves beautifully, and—most importantly—it still looks like I made an effort when I am, in fact, just trying to survive a normal workday.

❧ The Little Details ❧

Since the outfit itself is basically one big sweep of burgundy, I wanted the accessories to break it up a little.

I layered my gold necklaces, including the open filigree teardrop pendant, and added the long gold chain earrings. They’re delicate enough that they don’t compete with everything else, but they give the darker burgundy a little bit of warmth and shine.

And then there’s the bow.

Because obviously there was going to be a bow. 😂

I pulled my hair into a low side ponytail and tied it back with that big soft cream ribbon. I love how much it changes the outfit from the back. From the front, it’s a pretty simple burgundy outfit with gold jewelry.

Then I turn around and—

🎀 BOW. 🎀

Subtlety has never really been the goal around here.

❧ And Then There Are the Shoes ❧

The cream bow Mary Jane heels were pretty much inevitable.

They pick up the cream ribbon in my hair, lighten up all that burgundy, and somehow make the whole outfit feel even more old-fashioned and feminine.

I especially love the little bow detail across the strap. They’re one of those pairs of shoes that can make an otherwise simple outfit feel much more me without needing to add a dozen other things.

Although, considering I’m wearing a giant hair bow, layered necklaces, dangling earrings and bow shoes, perhaps we shouldn’t pretend restraint was ever part of today’s plan. 😂

❧ Comfortable Can Still Be Pretty ❧

That may actually be my favorite thing about this outfit.

The sweater is soft. The skirt is loose and flowy. Nothing feels stiff or fussy. But with the jewelry, the cream accessories, and those little romantic details, I still feel completely put together.

I think I’m slowly figuring out that this is the sweet spot I love most with my clothes: comfortable enough for real life, but pretty enough to make an ordinary Tuesday feel a little special.

And apparently today that required burgundy from nearly head to toe.

I have no regrets. 🤎

Are you a monochrome-outfit person, or would wearing this much of one color drive you crazy? 😂
